Shepherd of the Mountains Semi-Annual Meeting Minutes

Shepherd of the Mountains held its semi-annual congregational meeting on Sunday, November 18^th.  The President, Ron Nehring, and secretary, J.J. Ehlers, were present.  A quorum or 52 was present, so the meeting was called to order at 10:30 am.  Reports given included:

 

1.     A budget for 2008 of $245,600 was presented by our Treasurer, Jim Hier.    See attached documents for more information.  This expense budget for 2008 was nearly identical to the final spending projections for this year.  It includes the cost of an interim pastor for the full year.  We do not know when we might call a full time pastor, what their salary will be or what their moving expenses might be, so the 2008 budget does not include the cost of paying a Pastor full time.  We will look at that cost when we get there.  The income projection is considered very conservative in that it is satisfied almost entirely on pledges and other known receipts, rather than relying on income from new members.  A motion was made by Bob Gross to approve the budget as stated on Page 4 of the handout.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

2.     The Call Committee appointed by council was announced.  Ron thanked everyone who had been willing to serve, and reminded the congregation to let the Call Committee do their job now.  The Call Committee members are:

§       Mary Antinori

§       Jim Hier – Council Representative

§       Linda Hathaway

§       Barb Holmen

§       Steve Polster

§       Jana Powell

§       Brad Wilson

 

3.     Bill Dwyer announced the slate of candidates for our Nominating Committee.  This is a standing committee that has been dormant for a very long time.  The Nominating Committee is responsible for recommending names for Council elections at the semi-annual meeting in May of 2008, and then recommending candidates for the next nominating committee to be elected at the semi-annual meeting in November of 2008.  They serve for a 1 year term.  The proposed members of the nominating committee are:

§       Bill Dwyer – Chair, as Vice President of Council.

§       Bob Gross

§       Steve Hewson

§       Kathleen Mercer

§       Mickey Palomaki

§       Kim Raymer

§       Wendy Vought

Rich Ehlers made a motion to elect the Nominating Committee as proposed.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

4.     Carl Ahern thanked Bill Dwyer for all the work he has done in the last few months.  The sentiment was met with applause.

 

5.     A motion was made to adjourn at 10:56.  It passed.
